Youth work

ASAP works with two locally based youth work teams, one to the north of us and one to the south. The youth service has centres right across the city and also does outreach and detached work in the community.

At the Academy, youth workers are currently available on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes for students to talk to. Youth workers can sometimes offer advice and guidance as well as listening to the needs and wishes of young people looking for more opportunities and activities where they live.

Soon youth workers will also be offering group work sessions at the Academy to deal with common issues facing young people as well as offering more intensive one to one support. The youth service can be contacted direct on 01752 705297 for Honicknowle and surrounding areas and 01752 228906 for North Prospect and surrounding areas.

Adult learning

There are many opportunities at ASAP for adults to take part in formal and informal learning. That means that people in our communities can enjoy taking part in activities from fitness sessions right the way through to university qualifications.

Plymouth YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) share our campus. They have outstanding sports centre facilities as well as the use of all the Academy's sports facilities during evenings, weekends and school holidays. As a result they have a massive programme of activities for adults, children and families as well as offering a huge range of training courses for people aged 16 upwards. For more information, please see their website

Plymouth Adult Community Learning Service (PACLS) is Plymouth City Council's department for adult learning. They organise a huge range of adult education classes right the way across the city and at the Academy. Please visit or call 01752 609128 for further advice.
